First may I just preface this post with a statement:
If Sarah Palin can name her children after a series of ridiculous inanimate objects and a genetic compound (compound?) and Cher can name her kids after parts of nature, there’s no earthly reason why a sitting Judge should be allowed to arbitrarily change the name of a child brought to her court on another matter.
Republicans keep screaming about how the government keeps interfering with our rights – but they keep imposing their religion on the rest of us by way of the government and the offices they hold.
This is beyond silly and I hope the ACLU gets this judge but good.
(Cute and a button) Messiah
The Judge has cited two reasons for her decision, the first being that there is only one Messiah and he is Jesus Christ – and the second is that naming the child Messiah will cause him problems growing up. Hmm. I don’t recall Mohammad Ali getting beaten up after school because of his God name.
And if the name Number 16 Bus Shelter is good enough for a kid in NZ, I think – in comparison – the name Messiah is pretty tame.
Christianity is one religious belief among thousands. It’s followers should stop thinking they own the exclusive rights to faith, belief and God.
